Tumbling over the past year and a half has made me see the problems of gender roles that exist in media, but sometimes it gets to the point where I over analyze every single piece of television or film that I come across. (However this in no way means that I think feminist media criticism is wrong, or should be avoided!) Mostly I just over think everything.
This is awesome!

A higher res version of my Transistor submission and winning entry for Into The Pixel!
…well, that and because Maddy read way too many comics and crime novels as a kid.
“Maddy and Dick prep for the worst in this week’s Maddy update!”
…is what I would say if this was up on time. But it is now. So all is good!
Some thoughts on the criticism of Anita Sarkeesian I’ve seen on my dash a lot lately, because just about every complaint I saw from the people I follow yesterday was exactly as selective as they were accusing her of being. I’ll preface this by saying, no I am not an adamant fan of her work, I feel patronized by a lot of things she says and at times feel like she has a very narrow and exclusionary scope of the things she feels women are “allowed” to enjoy, but I’ve listened to most of her videos because at the same time she makes a lot of good points and I enjoy thinking critically about the media I consume (Which includes thinking critically about her analysis of the media I consume). I did not pitch in to the Kickstarter because it seemed unnecessary for me to do so and I am not personally invested in the project beyond it being a discussion of media tropes and me being a professional in the business of creating media.
These are pretty much my thoughts on Sarkeesian’s vids. She can have a peculiar way of presenting things, but it’d be false to say that every point she makes is invalid.
